We're down to earth, real, and ready to crack a joke to make you smile. We'll tell you to tickle your partner and kids or whisper something silly to them. I'll ask your kids if they have stinky feet. I'll let your little ones run around you in a whirlwind of madness in order to capture the magical essence of your everyday world.

Our studio is located right at the heart of Woodstown, New Jersey.

We welcome a wide variety of clients from family, corporate, kids, babies, cake smash sessions, and more! We're also entering back into the mini boudoir scene, so keep an eye on this space for more updates.

Currently our style is a mix of documentary/lifestyle and some light posing and coaching. My biggest goal is to help you feel at ease in your environment. When you step into the studio at South Jersey Portraits, you're walking into miniature versions of the rooms of my ideal home - decorated with carefully curated furnishings and decor that lend themselves to the vintage, nouveau, hollywood regency, boho, and eclectic victorian styles of our foremothers.

Imagine...

Lounging in luxury along an extra long parlor couch or cuddling up with your partner during an engagement session... As you're coached to make eachother laugh with the silliest thing you can remember about your relationship thus far.... or the look you give each other as I ask you to tell them what your hopes for your future together are...

and then

To the newborn you're holding as the dappled light drapes through the windows filled with live plants, in the bohemian peacock chair adorned with fresh flowers from the season, to accentuate the depth of meaning behind every detail built into your session.

As the young one ages, we step through time in milestones - 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, FIRST BIRTHDAYS and cake smashing, built entire of the theme you select, or chosen from an available selection of backdrops.

Together, you'll have family photos on any of the variety of vintage settees or in front of the 19th century fireplace mantle.

When they're ready for their cap & gown and senior photos, I'll be here ready to say hello to any friend, old or new.

Ultimately, my goal is to bring you into an environment that sets you at ease, with prompts and coaching to achieve the most natural and candid photos you could hope for. We also include posed photos in every gallery for the traditional 'mail-to-family' portraits you're familiar with.

We do have a bathroom for guests as well as plans for a private changing screen in the future. Our windows are all covered with privacy film that enhances the ambiance as well as protecting your privacy.

What happens in the studio can stay in the studio. This is a safe space and anything said or done within these walls are sacred and for you only if you so desire. I am the least judgemental person you will ever meet, so please do not feel the need to have your guard up - I have been through a lot and worked a lot of different people in my career and in my life. You are safe, you are loved, and you are seen, and this is a place that welcomes LGBTQIA, gender-affirming photography, diverse families of any creed, lifestyle, or relationship dynamic.

We can accommodate almost anyone from any walk of life, however due to the old nature of our building, it is not currently up to ADA standards. There are two steps and a handrail, however there is no ramp at this time. We offer calming toys and fidgets for children or adults who may need them, and allow time for guests who need a few minutes to reduce stimulus or anxiety. An iPad is available for use an an alternative communication device and translator.

Basically, I'm an autistic and multiply neurodivergent adult who needs her own accomodations and really understands the needs of children on the spectrum. My goal at the end of the day is for you to have photographs you love, not to adhere to a strict schedule. If for some reason your session does not go forward thanks to a failed nap, or someone getting sick, or whatever reason, you are always welcome to reschedule!

Natalie Serwan

Owner & Lead Photographer

I started taking pictures at a very young age. Inspired by my family of photographers, professional and amateur, I grew up knowing exactly what I wanted to do with my life.

This translated into a lifetime of looking through the lens, practicing my craft, and learning everything I could at every opportunity. Through my career I have worked in every facet of commercial photography, from preschool portraits to high-volume sports & graduation photos. I know how fleeting the moments are and how to capture them.

The most comfortable I've ever felt in front of the lens is during a lifestyle portrait session. My most beloved photos of my family include the candid moments between myself, my husband, and our young children Christopher and Amelia. I strive to make everyone as comfortable as possible in order to capture genuine smiles and true reactions.
